You’d think that somewhere with a name like Komodo Island was pretty easy to sum up. But Easter Island isn’t all about Easter, and there are no whales in Wales! Put simply, Komodo is much more than just the famed home of the elusive lizard that roams and basks on its sandy coast and jungle floors, it’s an untrodden land of pink-hued beaches and crystal clear diving waters, rugged coastal cliffs and hidden inland villages of curious, thought-provoking locals—a veritable gem of the Nusa Tenggara that’s like no other island within reach.
If you have come here to spot the formidable beast that is the island’s namesake, then be sure to ask your Komodo Island tour guide for details about the various dragon tours that depart from nearby Lombok on a regular basis, or the organised trekking excursions out of Flores Island in the east. If not, then consider one of the many diving packages that explore the coves and inlets of Komodo’s untouched shoreline, or perhaps a sea kayaking trip out into the swells of the Flores Sea.
