The guide is well informed and is passionate about her own city. Very easy to communicate with and ery accomodating, considering that we were travelling as a family with two very young kids.

When I was planning a trip to India from the UK to trace historic family connections going back 150 years, I knew I would need someone special to prepare the ground and help it all go smoothly.
Well, someone up there must have been looking out for me, as Bratati was all I could have wished for, and more.
She put a lot of unpaid time into following up some leads I sent her, and arranged visits with organisations in Calcutta with which my family had been connected.
Suffice it to say the trip was a fantastic success, beyond my wildest dreams. The discoveries we made would not have been possible without her.
She and her husband Ady also took us on some great sight-seeing trips around the city.
I can’t recommend her highly enough. Simply the best.

My wife and I booked Bratati for two days at the end of January 2019, based on the great reviews she’s got on TourHQ, and we are so pleased that we did. We exchanged several emails before our trip, with Bratati asking what we wanted to do and see, and checking what transport we would like, that sort of thing. I explained that we had two objectives for our visit to Kolkata/Calcutta. First was to visit places associated with my family’s ancestors and second to experience a little of what Calcuttan life is like in the present day. Bratati then went way beyond anything we might have expected and contacted the school where my great grandfather had been Principal in the 1890’s and arranged for us to visit and meet the current Principal and other staff (on a Saturday!) and made many other enquires on our behalf. The two days we spent with Bratati were terrific fun. She understood exactly what we were trying to achieve and went far out of her way to help us achieve our aims. Amongst other things, we hustled around from the school to St John’s Cathedral where she spoke to the archivist and got us to see the marriage and baptism records of some ancient relatives, to Howrah flower market on a bus, a rickshaw ride to lunch with a Bengali family, a tram ride through north Kolkata, showed us how to use the metro, got us into the Victoria Memorial on a busy Sunday skirting the long queues, took us into markets and the Jain Temple. She gave us restaurant recommendations in and around Park Street and got us to the Park Street Cemetary and made enquires about other cemeteries and the site of a great uncle’s accounting firm. As I said, Bratati went way beyond the “call of duty”, plus she did it with a smile, composure, patience and in excellent English! We cannot rate, and recommend, Bratati too highly!
