Meet your tour guide and set off from Braamfontein and make a stop at Park Station; this is a central railway station in the city of Johannesburg and the largest railway station in Africa.
Catch a local bust to drive you deep into the city.
Hop off from the bus, and you are going to take a walk in the famous Main Street Mall; it is at this mall that you will learn about the history of gold in Johannesburg.
Visit the law office of Nelson Mandela and OR Tambo.
Have an opportunity to go underground in one of the well-preserved mining stopes.
Make another stop at the impressive statue of a youthful Gandhi and artwork celebrating Joburg’s multicultural roots before moving to the base of the Carlton Centre. Carlton Centre used to be the tallest building in African and the Southern Hemisphere for almost 40 yrs.
Head up to the 50th floor to soak up the views and get the lay of the land before hitting the pavements, strolling down streets lined with both historic and modern buildings. If you are a street are lover, do let your guide know to be shown some of the very interesting streets arts/graffiti.
Learn how in the ’90s, Johannesburg was labelled the dark city, no go area, but in 2008 things changed for the better with the development of the Maboneg Cultural Precinct. Maboneng is the most vibrant and trendy area of Johannesburg. You will see with your own eyes just how far South Africa has come since the apartheid regime when Johannesburg was still considered to be one of the most dangerous cities in the world. South Africans today are proud to be known as a relatively safe, multicultural city that has a lot to offer visitors.
Finish exploring Maboneng and either catch a minibus taxi/city bus back to the park station; this will be the end of your tour.
