Day 1- Mandara Hut expand_more
Ascend a cleared ridge trail to Mandara Hut from Marangu Gate.
The first overnight stop at Mandara Hut, a 4-5 hours trek. (1830m-2700m above sea level).

Day 2- Horombo Hut expand_more
Traverse through a short stretch of forest and wooded stream into grassland from Mandara Hut.
Horombo Hut is reached after Six hours trek and is 11km from Mandara Hut. (2700m- 3720 m above sea level).

Day 3- Mawenzi Peak expand_more
Explore Mawenzi peak from the Horombo Hut.
Acclimatize, with an extra day at Horombo Hut, for the next day's long trek.

Day 4- Horombo – Kibo Hut expand_more
Reach Kibo Hut, the landscape has become more rocky and rugged up to the Saddle of Kilimanjaro, between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi.
Kibo Hut is 5-6 hours trek. (3720m - 4703m above the sea level).

Day 5- Kibo Hut – Gillman’s Point expand_more
Trek to Gillman’s Point (5680m) and Uhuru Peak (5895m). The climb takes almost 10-12 hours. It is normal to start the day’s trek at 2 am or earlier to accomplish the demanding 5 hrs in the dark. With sunrise, reach Gillman’s Point on the edge of the crater. A further hour by daybreak time will permit the final push to Uhuru Peak.
Descent to Kibo Hut for a meal and rest, continue to descend to Horombo Hut for the fifth day overnight.

Day 6- Departure expand_more
Trail down to the Marangu Gate, which is a 10-12 hours trek. It is an easy descent to the Gate.
Pick up and transfer to Arusha for post extension trips.

This is the most popular easiest way to the summit. The trail has huts along its route with all the basic necessities. No technical skill is required for these 5 days and 4 nights trek. The trek can also be taken in 6 days/5 nights to aid acclimatization with an extra day at Horombo hut.
