Description
Marangu Route is also known as the “Coca Cola” or “tourist” route. It is the easiest and shortest route to the summit. This is also the only route with the comforts of sleeping huts at every campsite with solar lights and comfortable beds. Begin your ascent to Uhuru Peak through rainforests, moorland, alpine deserts and ice-caps in this 6-day trek!

Day 1: Airport to hotel expand_more
On arrival, you are met and transferred to your booked hotel in Moshi/Arusha.
Dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut expand_more
Transfer to Marangu Gate, where you begin to climb.
Climb through lush rainforests teeming with bird and animal life, including the Colobus monkey.
Proceed to Mandara Hut.
Stay overnight.
3-4 hours walk to Mandara Hut, which is at 2743 meters.

Day 3: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut expand_more
From Mandara, the trail crosses alpine meadows and thinly vegetated moorlands to Horombo Hut at 4167 meters.
Stay for dinner and overnight.
Duration: 5-6 hours walk.

Day 4: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut expand_more
Continue your climb to Kibo Hut (5173 meters) at the foot of Kibo peak, further on to the saddle between the peak of Kibo and Mawenzi.
Then across the high altitude desert for dinner and rest upto midnight at Kibo Hut.
Duration: 5-6 hours walk.

Day 5: Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut expand_more
Take on the final challenge up steep, loose slopes. Start at about 1 am (0100 hours), reaching Gillman's Point at dawn.
Continue along the crater rim at Gillman's Peak to Uhuru Peak ( 5895 meters), the Peak of Africa, giving magnificent views over the vast plains below.
Return to Horombo Hut for your dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate expand_more
Complete the descent via Mandara Hut to Marangu Gate and transfer to Moshi Town/Arusha Town. Have a hot shower, leisure dinner and overnight at your booked hotel.
