Dennis Shayo

Dennis was a fantastic guide up the Rongai route to Kilimanjaro. He was like the big brother in our group, always checking we had drunk enough water and especially making sure I was warm enough on summit day. His tip to listen to music on summit night was invaluable, and throughout the climb, you could feel that he was observing you, your condition and capability, and making sure he would help with whatever was needed to ensure your success on the trip. There were many moments on the trail, where my focus was Dennis' boots in front of me and taking it one step at a time, so the method really worked!  I also always appreciated his humour and good nature and treasure the laughs and the amazing dancing we had while struggling to the top.
