My Reviews

valery-chisinau-tour-guide

Valery Bradu

I went to Moldova in early July of 2018 and had a great time with Valery! I wasn’t really planning on going to Moldova, but when I saw I had a long layover in Chisinau, I did a little research to see what I could do. Turns out a lot of people recommended Moldova as a tourist destination and I read about how they were pleasantly surprised. I then went online to look for a tour guide who was flexible enough to pick me up at the airport, give me a tour, and take me back to catch my flight. I then found Valery, an experienced tour guide that speaks English and has a complete profile, so I contacted him and booked. He confirmed shortly after and as we had agreed, he was at the airport when I arrived. He payed for parking, and we were off to the city, which isn’t far from the airport.

Valery took me to every sight I wanted to stop by on the way. We stopped by a few parks which were very nice and Valery talked to me about the history of Moldova. He answered every question I had about modern and old times. It was really interesting, he really knows how to tell a story and in my own language, which was awesome! We talked a lot about life in the country in general and how it had changed after communist times. Fortunately for us, The Beatles and Back in the USSR came up as a topic, which lead to endless conversations on music, which we both loved. He told me he was a musician and I asked him if I could hear some of his work. Well he didn’t put it on the car, but stopped over at the State Conservatory of Music, asked for the key and gave me a live concert. He is really talented! I advice everybody to ask for a concert from him as he is happy to play for you.

He took me to a cathedral where there is an important arch in the front of it (I’m horrible with names sorry), to the national museum (because I asked him to) and to have lunch. He was very flexible with payment because I didn’t exchange currency, so he payed some stuff for me and I reimbursed him in the end. I highly recommend touring with Valery because he is very nice and informed. I really learned a lot from him. I have no doubt that when I return to Moldova I will hire Valery a gain for a longer trip. I was really interested when he told me Moldova has the largest wine cellar in the world which is an underground city and about Transnistria, which is basically nowhere land. I’m so grateful with Valery for the awesome trip!
