Sam Amara

Sam was a guide for our party of 6 friends and we did not have one moment of regret or unhappiness for the whole 2 week trip.  Sam is a very polite, friendly and calm guide and we learnt very quickly that he could be relied on to get you to where you needed to get to in good time and with a minimum of fuss.  Driving is quite an experience in Sri Lanka but he was always in control and handled the van very well: it was also cleaned inside and out pretty much every day.  Sam stayed with us for all the organised trips, even on the safari where he had to stay at a hotel some distance away from the tents, and was always ready with a warm smile to set us off.  He also did not bombard us with a lot of chatter but, rather, ensured we were informed of the important things but let us alone quietly on long journeys.  He was also completely happy to go "off piste" and transport people around to venues not on the itinerary, or swap one trip for another so he is very flexible in that respect.  He was also amusing and we had some laughs with him e.g. everything seems to be "half an hour" away :-)  All in all, a first rate guide and I would not hesitate to recommend him.
