Absolute Lanka Tours

We were a bit hesitant to go to Sri Lanka for our honeymoon as we planned it only 6 weeks in advance and we felt we didn't have enough time to plan it the right way.

This is the first time we do a guided tour but a quick check to TripAdvisor reviews and 5 minutes in their website convinced us to give it a try with the assistance of Absolute Lanka Tours. They sent us a proposal for an 8 day itinerary which had exactly all the places we were interested in visiting.

Upon arrival to Colombo International Airport, we met our guide, Mr. Sameera, who was waiting for us. His service was exceptional, always giving us information and making sure that on every site we were being treated the right way. He had all the tour guides waiting for us in each location for all the sites and temples.

Mr.Sameera went above and beyond to provide additional activities to the ones in the itinerary. One example, after climbing in Sigiriya, I asked him about the famous Sri Lankan Ayurveda massage, well, he took us to an incredible Spa where we had the best (and cheapest) massage ever.

As far as hotels go, all of them were 4 to 5 stars (US standards) with amazing service.

Heritance Kandalama in Sigiriya was the best hotel, Amaya Hills in Kandy, Jetwing Kaduruketha in Ella, Jetwing Yala, Jetwing Lighthouse in Galle and the Galle Face Hotel in Colombo are all world class and I recommend you try them. In the case of Nuwara Eliya and Negombo, the Jetwing hotels were good but I would try something else if possible.

Having said all of this, if you decide to go to Sri Lanka, make sure you hire the right people, like Absolute Lanka (and ask for Mr Sameera) as this is not an easy place to go on your own like the US or Europe.
