Slamet took immense care of my partner and I while we were at Bondowoso. Our itinerary was to climb Mt. Ijen, as well as Mt. Bromo and Slamet helped us with those two feats. While we were at Bondowoso, we had a family stay at our driver's, Mr. Suleiman's house. The whole trip was wonderful as it was filled with warm hospitality. Slamet, I must say brought us safely to the top of Mt. Ijen. The climb was grueling (think cold weather + pitch black darkness + two unfit people) but Slamet stayed on with us and was patient with us throughout the climb. During our time at Mt. Bromo, Slamet was filled with knowledge and would share with us loads of information regarding the history behind Mt. Bromo. In addition, he also took us to a batik painting factory, as well as a brick making area, among some of the other things that we did. Slamet is also a strong advocate on village tourism, and its inspiring to see how one man wants to take on this humongous job.
