My Reviews
Ahmed Khattab
My wife and I recently had the privilege of joining a small-group tour of Egypt with Egypt Guided Tours. If you’re looking for a well-organized experience that blends jam-packed days of fascinating history with time for relaxation and rejuvenation in 5-star surroundings, we can’t recommend this company highly enough! Ahmed is a trained Egyptologist, and his depth of knowledge is exceptional. He has a real gift for teaching — explaining complex history in a way that is easy to follow, tying different sites and stories together, and repeating key points when necessary so that everything truly clicked. He made the entire experience both educational and engaging. We were met at the airport, and never had to worry about anything from that point on. Even though we only had two full days in Cairo, the itinerary was incredibly rich. We explored the Stepped Pyramid of Djoser at Saqqara, the pyramids of Khufu and Khafre in Giza, and even enjoyed a camel ride. We experienced a dinner cruise complete with belly dancers, a whirling dervish, and traditional Egyptian music. We also visited the Hanging Church and the Saints Sergius and Bacchus Church in Old Cairo, and spent time at the impressive new Grand Egyptian Museum. It was an amazing introduction to Cairo’s history and culture. From Cairo we flew to Aswan, where we visited the stunning Philae Temple — a breathtaking site from the 3rd century BC. After a short night in Aswan, we travelled to Abu Simbel. The temples of Ramses II and his favourite wife Nefertari were truly awe-inspiring. From there, we boarded our Nile cruise for a luxurious three-night journey. Drifting along the river, exploring temples and a Nubian village along the way, and relaxing on deck as the scenery passed by made this part of the trip absolutely unforgettable. When we arrived in Luxor, we visited the tombs in the Valley of the Kings, the temple of Queen Hatshepsut, and both the Karnac and Luxor temples. Somewhere in there we also managed to squeeze in a horse and carriage ride through the market and the streets of Luxor. After a night in Luxor we had the incredible experience of a hot air balloon ride near the Valley of the Kings, floating over the breathtaking landscape at sunrise — an unforgettable way to take in Egypt’s history from above. Afterward, we drove to Hurghada where we spent three nights at a luxury all-inclusive resort. It was the perfect place to relax, unwind, and even snorkel in the Red Sea — a refreshing way to enjoy some fun in the sun after so many amazing adventures. What made this trip truly exceptional was Ahmed’s professionalism and adaptability. When unforeseen circumstances required changes to the itinerary, he handled everything seamlessly, ensuring that nothing on our planned schedule was missed. He also guided us to wonderful local stops, including shops selling essential oils, carpets, alabaster, and spices, giving us a richer experience of Egyptian culture. Beyond his incredible knowledge and skill, we felt that we came as strangers and left as friends — his warmth, patience, and genuine care made him an unforgettable part of our journey.
