Sam was our guide a few years back, we were a bit uncertain about spending more than a week of our holiday with someone we had never met but from the first day we realised we had a gem of a guide. Everything that you would want from a guide Sam provided, he was articulate, friendly, safe, knowledgable and funny. He was a true guide, showing us things we would never have found, helping us to avoid the obvious tourist places and showing us a side of Sri Lanka that will stay with us for ever. I just wish I could take him with me to every country I visit.

Soun was a guide on an Explore tour I took to Laos. Our group was small but still challenging I thought for our guide. Such different, competing expectations and Soun was a master at keeping everyone happy. At every turn he was exceedingly helpful, charming and always prepared to make an extra effort to accommodate and facilitate. His local knowledge was excellent, making sure that when we had time each group member found things that interested them. His English was perfect and so it was possible to have fascinating conversations with him into the night over a beer or two allowing a much better appreciation of the country and the people. During group activities Soun judged the atmosphere of the group well, giving enough information about locations and cultural events such that we were informed but didn't feel we were on an academic tour but if we wanted more information he was ready to oblige. I would recommend Soun as a guide to anyone looking for a friendly, resourceful guide with knowledge and patience.
