Daniele Meledandri

We contacted Daniele about seeing street art in Rome and he was gracious about working with our schedule.

We have experienced guides who "overacted" or rushed us.  Daniele, on the other hand, is a gentle guide.  He was thoughtul and allowed us a moment to take things in as we looked at the art, which actually helped us to absorb more than we did at other sites where guides never stopped talking.  The pace always felt gentle, but we actually covered a lot in a short time.  Daniele explained the history of the area before we started, which was very helpful.  I know people experience guides giving long introductions while you're itching to see the next thing or they may not connect the history with the present.  Daniele did neither of those.  He gave us enough information that we could remember and contextualize and applied it as we moved along.

He was not reciting a rehearsed program, but was speaking from his education and experience and he had clearly taken the time to learn about the individual artists and their works.  He spoke about the significance of the murals and the background of many of the artists, as well as what they moved on to do after their work in Rome.

It's really clear that Daniele loves not just the historical aspects of the city, but all of it and its people.

As we were without a tour group, he kindly walked us to our bus stop and told us exactly what line to get on and where to get off for our next destination.  That was above and beyond.
