Amy Suksamai

Amy was our tour guide in 2010 (yes 12 years ago!), when me and 5 other friends travelled around Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam for the first time, for a month with G Adventures, with Amy as our wonderful guide.

I cannot speak highly enough of Amy, and just how brilliant she is at building rapport with everyone in the group from many different countries and backgrounds. She's upbeat, positive and engaging, with a special ability to manage the groups dynamics extremely well, ensuring everyone has a brilliant time whilst making sure we all looked after one another and made the most of our time in each location.

She's well organised, knowledgable, generous with her time (and food!), hilarious and exceptionally passionate about being a great guide, helping make sure everybody around her enjoys themselves as much as possible, is respectful to local culture and immerses themselves in it as much as they can.

If there were ever any issues or delays with transport, hotel check-in etc., she would handle it very calmly, always considering the groups wellbeing and enjoyment before hers. No mean feat when the group had only a couple hours sleep after a night drinking snake venom whisky soaked up with (unknown meat) doused in chilli sauce..

After our tour, Amy joined me and my friends for a short break before her next tour, showing us her culture and traditions all for the love of it. Needless to say, we have stayed in touch ever since and I feel very priviledged to call her a friend, and make the most of her local knowledge every time I revisit SE Asia, which I do every time I can due to falling in love with the place - courtesy of Amy's tour guide prowess and enthusiasm for everything it has to offer!

I cant express how much Amy's tour opened the world up to me and made life even better -  along  with opening my culinary mind up to the world of intense, chilli-induced heat capable of killing a donkey!

Count yourself extremly lucky if you end up in a tour with Amy as your guide, you're in for a life changing experience !
