My Reviews

Although Julia was not impressed with my driving skills (we picked her up and drove with her to all our sites) she gave good directions and provided us interesting information as we toured Caesarea, Nazareth and Akko. I had a full day planned and should have been more clear on what we hoped to accomplish in this one day tour, however, Julia quickly adapted and provided us with a very memorable day. I was pleased with the time we had in Caesarea and Akko and we  also got to see the main sites in Nazareth too with a quick break for lunch.

I planned a half day tour with Jeff and friends - mainly to get the full Jaffa experience. We first toured the American- German Colony where Jeff gave a very detailed history of the area.  He carried a packet of maps, photos and general info which should have added to the tour but often distracted due to poor quality and Jeff having problems located the photos he wanted to share. Jeff is really interested in architecture so he spent a lot of time in the American-German Colony and other Tel Aviv sites before we got to Jaffa, where I felt we were somewhat rushed.  I was disappointed we did not have more time in Jaffa and we ended up spending additional time here after the tour ended so we could see more sites.

I had to choose a rating so I picked 3/5 - not due to the late cancelation (illness) but due to the poor communication prior to our travel and with the tour guide replacement. We were suppose to visit Safed, Galilee and Kinneret, which was agreed upon prior to us arriving in Israel, however, Shaked did not remember any of this when we finally connected two days before our scheduled tour.  We  hit all the originally planned places, however, Shaked told the guide replacement we wanted to see the Safed Citadel, which was never in my plans.  This resulted in us wasting close to an hour getting to and spend unnecessary time up in the Citadel (there's really nothing there anymore) and only having 30 minutes to spend in the town of Safed, where I wanted to walk the streets and learn about Kaballah and the area.

I arranged a full day tour of Jerusalem old city and Bethlehem for a group of four with Rafael.  Rafael was very responsive and planned our tour prior to us arriving in Israel. Rafael also provided ongoing communications before and after our tour.  Rafael met us at our hotel and we walked through the Armenian and Jewish quarters, visited the Western Wall, walked down the Via Dolorosa and visited the Holy Sepulchre, getting to see all the stations of the cross. After lunch we spent the remainder of the day in Bethlehem.  We met a driver and separate tour guide for this part of the trip.  This tour guide was also friendly, knowledgable with a great sense of humor.  The tour was really good until the end when Rafael took us to a gift shop. There is a very well known  Blessings Gift Shop and Olive Wood Factory next door to the Church of the Nativity that I wanted to go to, and I should have spoken up, but thought we would be going here when Rafael shared we would end our tour at a really nice gift shop.  This gift shop is the kind with subpar souvenirs with big price tags, many salespersons who hawk you once you show a little bit of interest,  and a large parking lot built to hold many tour buses. One of the perks of a private tour (and tipping well) is not going to these types of tourist traps where the guide most likely gets a kick back.  Other than that, the tour of Jerusalem was very educational and exceeded my expectations.
