Sign up for the tour and get familiar with the nature, culture and life around Lake Eyasi of the Arusha Region. Experience the charm of the friendly Hadzabe and Datoga tribes and learn about how they hunt, track wildlife and make a fire with the help of your tribal guide. Visit the Maasai market, meet Maasai people, see their crafts and also taste their food, including the famous Maasai BBQ.
DAY 01
Day 1: Arusha – Lake Eyasi
- Meet with your tour guide in Arusha and start for Lake Eyasi.
- Engage with the elusive Hadzabe tribe and learn about their fascinating culture.
- Go on a picnic lunch and visit the Datoga village for an immersive tribal experience.
- Have dinner and stay overnight at Lake Eyasi campsite.
DAY 02
Day 2: Lake Eyasi - Arusha
- Start early with your bushman guide to meet a group of Hadzabe residents. Enjoy walking into the bush with the only hunter-gatherers remaining in the East African region. The Hadzabe speak a click-based language and move their encampments with the seasonal movements of the wildlife. Your group member guide will explain how they hunt, track wildlife, make fires and even take honey from bees’ nests before introducing you to his people and showing the customs and way of life.
- In the afternoon, we will travel to a Maasai market and enjoy the spectacular views of people going about their daily life. Hundreds of Maasai gather each Thursday afternoon at the bustling Maasai market, where guests have the chance to see their crafts and taste their food, including the famous Maasai BBQ. A larger, village-wide market occurs on the 22nd of each month.
- In the late afternoon, we will drive you back to your desired destination in Arusha.
