Description

This live-streamed, Online Experience gives you insight into the international port city of Kobe, Japan. We will start with Kitano Tenmangu Shrine at the foot of the mountain; you will be surprised to learn the importance of this little shrine as I tell you some fascinating details about its history. Climbing up the stairway, we will get high up enough to enjoy a beautiful view of Kobe stretching out below us. Never been inside a shrine? Do not worry. I will take you through the shrine step by step, so you will be prepared when you come to Japan.

Our next stop will be Ijinkan Street, where you will see some Western-style buildings. Kitano district was once designated as a foreign settlement, which explains the unique scenery and culture with more than just a hint of Western influence. We're not complaining, though - without Kobe being a gateway to the West, our well-known Kobe beef would never exist!

Finally, I will take you to the Ikuta Shrine and tell you more about its important role in creating this city. The fascinating thing about the shrine is that although it is located in the middle of the city, it still has a little “forest” in the back, offering a peaceful getaway away from the noise and crowd of the city. It is here that we will relax for a while before we say our goodbyes.
I look forward to showing you around Kobe on this tour!

Meet your Host
Aimu Ishimaru

I am a happy young Japanese lady who fell in love with Danish 'hygge' (cosiness). I am your tour guide but hope to be your friend. Various seasonal events and the food accompanying these events are one thing I love about Japan. Hot springs and tea ceremony are my favourites as well.

"When in Rome, do as the Romans do"

This is what I believe is the best way to enjoy travelling while being welcomed by the locals at the same time. With a little effort, your trip will be much more than just a regular fun holiday. I hope to be a great cultural mediator by offering online experiences and make your next trip to Japan more memorable.
