Join me on this virtual walk through the streets of Stavanger, one of Norway’s oldest and most culturally vibrant cities.

We will begin this Online Experience at a modern building known as the Stavanger Konserthus, and warm up to some interesting facts about Norwegian traditions and icons, from the trolls to the Vikings. Making our way to the old town, Gamle Stavanger, we will visit the Port of Vage. Here, see a diverse range of commercial and cultural establishments, and learn about the role the port has played in the evolution of the city. Following the coastal offshore line to the other side of the port, take in spectacular views of the islands and fjords around the ocean, and sight yet another modern concept of architecture, the Petroleum Museum (Oljemuseum).

No tour of Stavanger can be complete without admiring the view from atop the old fire tower Valbergtarnet, accompanied to the stories about Stavangar during the World War 2 years. Having done that, walk through the popular Fargegate or “colourful street” to visit the Solvberget Kulturhus, everyone’s favourite library and meeting place in town. 

For the final leg of our tour, we will walk around the 10th-century Cathedral Domkirke and take in the energy of the Domkirkplassen. Making our way around Lake Breievatnet we will reach the Byparken, where we will say our final goodbyes.
