Description

Join me on this live-streamed, interactive Online Experience, and together we will explore the diverse city of Rijeka, which has changed seven different countries over the last 100 years, and houses more than 24 ethnic minorities. Despite it, all don’t have an identity crisis! Over the centuries, this Adriatic port has attracted foreign investors, experts, and intelligentsia. Rijeka has secured a special place on the world's map as a cradle of innovations, such as the first torpedo.

We will start our tour at the oldest point in the city: the Roman ruins. Going through the narrowest street and walking underneath the Clock Tower, we will enter Korzo Street - a pedestrian walkway and explore the sights and sounds of the central fish market. As we make our way about the town, you will discover why our nickname is "the city that flows" and learn how many languages our ancestors spoke.

This tour will also allow you to admire the uniqueness of Rijeka's multiculturalism, as visible in our Turkish House, the Austrian architecture of Palazzo Modello, and the National Theatre. Together, we will also get to understand what the “Dead Canal" is and why it is important for city dwellers. This interactive walk and talk will end on the Bridge of Croatian Defenders, which was once a political border along the Dead Canal. Today it is the spot that keeps the city together and is, therefore, the perfect place for us to say goodbye in.
