Description

The Bo Kaap district in the mother city of Cape Town, South Africa is one of the most colourful experiences the country has to offer. Previously dubbed the Cape Malay Quarter, the area is now known as "Bo Kaap" after its people, who are descendants of Malaysian slaves and Indonesian political prisoners brought to the Cape by the Dutch East Indies Company during the 17 century.

Our live-streamed, interactive online experience of the Bo Kaap district will kick-off from the from Wales Street in front of the oldest businesses in the area, Rocksole. From here, we will walk around to the Atlas Spice Market and circuit through the colourful Chiappni Street and Bismillah restaurant. We will also see the Owaal Masjid, which was the first house and mosque in South Africa. Finally, we will finish our experience at one of the eight mosques in the small area. Throughout the tour, I will regale you with stories about the history of these places, and ensure that your tour is rich, informative, and unforgettable.
