Description

Cartagena de Indias was the main port for trade between Spain and its overseas empire from the 1500s. During the colonial era it evolved into a centre of political, ecclesiastical, and economic activity. The city flourished, and a colonial walled city was built to defend it against pirate attacks in the Caribbean; this fortified city  called La Ciudad Amurallada was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984.

On this live-streamed online experience, discover the history, anecdotes and secrets about colonial and present Cartagena as we see the old city and important maritime ports of the Indies. We will start at the Old Port from where shipping of merchandise to and from Spain took place. Walk with me through alleys decorated with graffiti and beautiful murals to reach the Main Square. Here, we will see the cosy Iglesia de la Trinidad, monument-filled Plaza Aduana and lively Bolivar Square. I will make sure you get to see all the interesting highlights and hear the stories you won't find on the internet or guide books.
