Description
Kakku Pagoda is a pagoda complex located in the Southern Shan State of Myanmar. It is one of the most spectacular historical sites in Asia with a huge collection of 2478 stupas. The main stupa is around 40 meters high, and spire surrounding it has a uniform mass. Each pagoda in the complex is a masterpiece in itself.
Most of the pagodas were constructed in the 17th and the 18th Century and were restored after suffering earthquake damage. The complex is also the site of religious importance to the Pa-Oh people, the second-largest ethnic group in the Shan State. One of the distinctive characteristics of the Pa-Oh community is that they still wear their full traditional attire to this date. Most of the people in the community are farmers so you will get to see the beautiful paddy fields around Kakku Pagoda.
