Description

This online experience will take you through the enchanting city of Bagan, home to over 3500 stunning pagodas concentrated over an area of 42 square kilometres. Each pagoda in the complex houses unique plaster carvings and paintings, making Bagan a truly beautiful place to visit.

We will start our virtual tour from the Thatbyinnyu Temple in the Old Palace Complex, which is the tallest structure in Bagan and dates back to the 12th century. The imposing shikhara tower of this stone and stucco temple makes it a truly awe-inspiring structure.

Another structure that inspires similar emotions and appreciation is the Natlaung Kyaungs, a highly revered Hindu Temple from the 11th century. We will visit the Natlaung Kyaungs and learn about its significance, and then make our way to the Ngakywenataung Stupa which dates all the way back to the 10th century. Along the way, I will tell you about the different religions which have historically been followed by the people of Bagan, and you will get to know about the evolution of Stupas in Myanmar. I will also share why a solitary white temple stands in this complex of reddish-brown temples.

We will end our tour with a visit to the Shwegu Gyi or Golden Cave Temple, which dates back to the 12th century and is located on a vast excavation site. After spending some time at this site and talking about its significance to Bagan and its people, we will finally say our goodbyes.
