Description

This online experience will take you to Ollantaytambo, to see a battlefield, a fortress and a temple built over 5 centuries ago by the Incas, one of the greatest civilisations of South America.

Start the experience at an Inca crop terrace located 9000 ft (2700 mts) above sea level, and take in the amazing view of the "Sacred Valley of the Incas" surrounded by imposing mountains. The terraces are well-known, not only for growing crops, an important aspect of Inca life back in the day, but also for contemporary uses we will discuss in the tour.
Walk up the stone steps to visit the "Temple of the Sun," and witness one of the most impressive Inca altars, made with stones weighing more than 50 tons and brought to the site from far, far away. Uncover the greatest mysteries about Inca architecture on the way: how they moved giant stones from one mountaintop to another, and how they cut the stones to fit each other perfectly. Learn more about the impressive stonework of the Inca people.

Walk through the remnants of this old battlefield town, and listen to the epic story of the Ollantaytambo Battle, where the Incas defeated the Spanish conquistadores with unbelievable tactics. Look about at the various fortified defenses that allowed the town their precious victory.

I have been a certified professional tour guide in Cusco - Peru for more than 14 years. I am a father of 3 and live in the beautiful Sacred Valley of the Incas.

I love a good story and the Incas have left many mysterious ones behind. Be ready to hear from me about history, folktales, culture, traditions, and scientific theories too. I am fluent in English and Spanish and have many stories of Peruvian life in the Andes to share that I'm sure you will find fascinating.

Diego is an outstanding guide, he has so much knowledge and love for his beautiful country and the story of Incas! I did this tour with my 10-year old daughter, she had so many questions for Diego, and he answered every one of them with utmost patience and precision... No wonder, with three young children, he must be so used to being barraged with questions:-) In just an hour, we have learned so much about the Incas and their stunning building and farming skills, it was amazing to be able to connect from the other end of the world and to see the Inca's stones so close as if we were standing there next to Diego. Thank you so much, Diego, we hope that tourists will be coming back, and we hope to visit your beautiful valley and of course the Machu Pichu soon, stay well, our best wishes!
