Join me on this interactive online experience as I take you on a virtual tour of Trinity College Dublin, located in the heart of the Irish capital. The university was founded in 1592 and was officially the College of the Holy and Undivided Trinity of Queen Elizabeth, and was modelled after the universities of Oxford and Cambridge. Today, it is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Europe.
Trinity has produced many notable alumni such as Samuel Beckett (Nobel Laureate in literature), Oscar Wilde, Edmund Burke, and many such great personalities. On this interactive tour, I will take you to the four major historic squares of the college and provide an insight into the history of the college and its different buildings. I will introduce you to the very famous Book of Kells, the old library and its long room. Just for your information, it houses 200,000 of the college’s vast collection of books. We will walk through the Beckett library and to the playground area. Then we will walk past it to reach the business school via the Art gallery. We will conclude our tour at the gates of this famous institution.

My name is Mairead (Irish for Margaret) Barry. I am a native of County Clare in the West of Ireland. I studied English and French at UCD Dublin and am fluent in Irish and French languages.
I am a qualified tour guide in English and French. To date, I have provided a quality service for a range of market profiles from Europe, Asia, India and the USA. This has included groups and private clients from cruise liners, walking tours, leisure, corporate and incentive tours both in Dublin and throughout Ireland. Since my student days, I have been living in Dublin. I thrive on new challenges and am always eager to acquire additional skills and knowledge to enhance my performance as a professional tour guide. I am constantly upskilling whether in a classroom setting or online with my local enterprise office. The on-line course on the Book of Kells, an Irish medieval masterpiece, at TCD, was fascinating. I aim to transmit my love and knowledge of Ireland in a lively, friendly and exciting way and to leave visitors with a good understanding of our built, natural and archaeological heritage and culture.
As my motto is to 'Never stop learning and exploring', I love to travel the city from the seashore to the Dublin mountains. So, apart from walking and jogging, my bicycle is my frequent mode of locomotion. It is fascinating to keep unearthing more about this medieval city with such a chequered history.
