Have you watched or read 'The Godfather' or have an interest in the Sicilian mafia? Join me on this tour of Corleone and get to know about the fascinating historical and cultural importance of this town as we walk down its notorious - and notoriously famous streets.

We will begin our live-streamed Online Experience at one of the oldest squares in Corleone near the statue of the famous Bernadino Verro, the Mayor of Corleone who was brutally murdered by the mafia in 1915. As we walk along, I will enlighten you about the meaning of the town's now well-known name, and we will then find ourselves at the Cathedral of St. Martin. Along with the cathedral, Corleone is home to around 100 churches. Did you know, these were built not only out of religious devotion, but also to create an underground tunnel to aid the mafia lords' escape in case of an attack!

Pursuing interesting facts such as these, we will walk through old streets as we unravel the evolution of the mafia; how a man named Don Corleone changed the path of history for Italy and the United States. We will also discuss Vito Corleone, who was hired as a bodyguard for Bernadino but later fled to the USA, only to come back and become the Godfather. I assure you that the movie and book will come alive in your imagination! 

As we talk movie trivia, I will guide you to the hospital where Nevara, another famous gangster after whom the character of Michael was modelled, was born. Near these is located the prison on the hill that serves as a monastery today and we will pay it a visit as we near the end of our walk.

It is true that Corleone's claim to fame is its connections with mafia lords and movies about them, but I will also introduce you to another side of it during our tour; take in a gorgeous panoramic view of the city and meet the town's symbol at the Town Hall. This is where we will say our goodbyes and part ways - with the backdrop of the image of a lion holding a deer!
