Take the tram from Causeway Bay to Happy Valley

Known as one of the most expensive districts of Hong Kong, Causeway Bay strived from a mere little village to the commercial heart of Hong Kong Island, where locals and visitors shop till they drop. Yet, together with the nearby Happy Valley district, it has also been the ground for long-standing philanthropic and religious organizations which provide the downtrodden with the much-needed social welfare since the city’s inception.

Description

Known as one of the most expensive districts of Hong Kong, Causeway Bay strived from a mere little village to the commercial heart of Hong Kong Island, where locals and visitors shop till they drop. Yet, together with the nearby Happy Valley district, it has also been the ground for long-standing philanthropic and religious organisations which provided the downtrodden with the much-needed social welfare since the city’s inception.

Join me on this Online Experience as I take you for a tram ride, from where I will point out where you can pick stylish clothes for cheap at Jardine's Crescent Market, talk about the significance of Po Leung Kuk, and then show you the Zoroastrian Building where the early settlers and descendants of the Parsees community still congregate and worship. You will notice Catholicism’s adaptation to localism in terms of architecture at St Margaret's Church. As we go by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, I will shed light on how this organisation, founded in 1884, remains the largest charitable organisation in the city, with service encompassing every aspect of life. End your tour at No. 54 Village Road for exclusive access to the 1920s residence of elegance.
