Description

Known as the landmark of Lijiang, the Black Dragon Pool was built in the Qing dynasty Qianlong period in 1737. The original name was Longwang Temple (the temple of Dragon King). Local people also call the black dragon pool the jade spring because the water is green and looks like a piece of jade.
The pool is listed in the collections of famous pools of China because of its exquisite beauty. It's a perfect example of harmony between humans and nature: clean spring water is poured out under the oak tree at the foot of elephant hill and finally forms into a lake. And, looking at the lake closely, you will be able to see a mirror-like reflection of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.
On the far end of the pool, we would be able to spot ancient buildings from Ming and Qing dynasties and the Moon-Embracing Pavilion with its own white marble bridge across the water, and the Five-Phoenix Temple built during the Ming Dynasty.
We will begin our virtual walk from the south side of the park, and the first ancient building that will come to our site is the One Cent Pavilion. Then, we will walk through the 'Suocui Bridge' to the best spot to enjoy the reflection of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and the marble bridge.
We will continue our walk to the other side of the park and enjoy the painting and carving details of the Moon-Embracing Pavilion. Also, visit an ancient theatre and learn the traditional technics for garden making.
Finally, our tour will end with a visit to the Dragon's temple and learn about its architecture and Taoism religion.
