Description
This live-streamed, interactive Online Experience will take you on a scenic walking tour down the streets of San Jose in Costa Rica. In our time together, I will show you around the city from a local perspective while offering glimpses into its rich architecture, nature and history.
Our journey will begin at the San Jose Cathedral, the city's main cathedral and the center point of downtown. From there, we will visit the colourful Central Market and walk through the 200 + shops it houses, which are famous for selling a kaleidoscopic range of wares, from food, goods, medicinal plants and herbal remedies.
Next, we will see several historical buildings, such as the National Theatre, and brilliant inner-city parks, such as the Parque Nacional. I am dedicated to helping you explore some interesting trees in the area and explain to you the medicinal properties for which they are known. I hope I get to show you around my city soon!

Meet your Host
Alejandro Cano Ospina
I am a certified tour guide in English and Spanish, licensed from the Costa Rican Institute of Tourism. In the near-future, I will hopefully have complete my studies in Japanese and German, too! I have thus far had the opportunity to travel and work in the tourist industry to several places, including Hawaii, Israel, Colombia, and Panama, and learn about tourism internationally.
I inherited a desire to learn about the environment and sustainability from my mother. Aside for guiding, for over 20 years I have researched, developed, and implemented teaching modules for youth and adults regarding new technologies to protect the planet - like solar energy, clean agricultural technics, culturally respectful tourism, and ecotourism. Along with my knowledge in Biochemistry, I completed a certificate program from Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica in solar energy technology and a certificate program on hydroponics from La Universidad de Costa Rica.
