Description

Bienvenue à Paris! Join me on this interactive virtual tour as I show you around the city's Latin Quarter, well-known for its vibrant student life, owing to the presence of important universities and educational institutions in the area.

Aside from exploring the famous and eminent Sorbonne University, this tour will also allow you to understand the nuances of a typical day in "the Paris of the intellectuals." As a PhD student here, I am well-positioned to answer all your questions and help alleviate your doubts about the university, the city, and the life it offers prospective students.

We will start the tour at the famous Notre Dame Cathedral, a jewel of gothic style dating back to the 12th century. Aside from being the heart of Paris, Notre Dame symbolizes the influence of the Catholic Church in French society centuries ago. This is also where Robert de Sorbon created La Sorbonne as a theological institution in the 13th century. Next will be the Latin Quarter, known for its charming bookstores, among which Shakespeare & Company is a must-see. Later, we will head to the Panthéon, a secular mausoleum dedicated to the nation's heroes. Conceived formerly as a church, the Panthéon gained a new function after the French Revolution.

Across the street, we will find the Sainte-Geneviève library, where students from nearby institutions spend a lot of time daily. Not far from there, we will head to Mouffetard street, an old medieval pathway that still exists. This is a place full of restaurants and bars where students hang out quite often day and night.

I look forward to seeing you on an exciting tour!
