Description
For centuries, bishops from Freising were the lords of Škofja Loka. It is no wonder that this small town's name means 'Bishop's Meadow.' In fact, every six years, the locals perform the Škofja Loka Passion Play - the oldest play in Slovenia.
This Online Experience starts on the castle plateau, where I will show you a typical house from the Middle Ages and the splendid surrounding views. We will then head down to the town square to marvel at the beautiful architecture and listen to intriguing stories from the past.
I will then introduce you to the perfect blend of gothic and baroque architectural styles - the Church of Saint Jacob, which was designed by Jožef Plečnik. Finally, after appreciating the astounding interior of the church, we will go to the oldest bridge in Slovenia, with a statue of St. John the Nepomuk, the protector of bridges in Europe.
