Description

This interactive Online Experience streaming live from Inle Lake in Myanmar will allow you to explore the region's famous traditional floating market from the comfort of your own home anywhere in the world!

The floating market at Inle Lake had completely disappeared about a decade ago, but was recently brought back and functions once again with all the hustle and bustle it had previously been known for. It is not just the boats on which trade is carried out that lend this market its name - the boats also "float" around the lake and change their location every day for five days in order to serve the needs of locals in five different villages.

This tour will take you on one of the boats on the floating market, where you will get to interact with several local tribes from surrounding areas, such as the Pa-Oo, the Intha, and the Padaung women known for their long necks. Along with your host, you will learn about the way in which trading works on these markets, which are famous for selling items like tools, carvings and other ornamental objects, textiles, and cheroots.

After this, you will visit the village pagoda, followed by a visit to the monastery. Here, you will be able to explore the local village life and learn about the history of the village. You will also get to witness people practicing the traditional Shan papermaking technique which employs the bark of the Mulberry tree to produce decorative hand-made paper.
