Description
We will be painting the Indian god Krishna's artwork in Cheriyal scroll during the class. I will guide you on how to create the basic drawing, colour combinations, and final touches. At the end of the class, we will also share images of other more complicated artworks which you can practice in your own time.

- Please have a good internet connection and zoom app installed on your phone or laptop

Know before you go
Please arrange for the following in advance of the session:
- Paper (this painting is about regular A4 size, slightly smaller)
- Brushes from size 0 to size 5/6 should be enough
- Acrylic or poster colours
- Black rooting pen for outlines

Meet your Host
Sai Kiran Dhanalakot
I belong to a family which happens to be the last practitioner for Cheriyal Scroll Art. To give you an idea of our legacy, a 160-year-old Cheriyal scroll painted by my great-great-grandfather is also exhibited in a museum in Paris. I hold a degree in fine arts. I wonder if Cheriyal scroll artists know more about the stories they are painting, as the storytellers of these paintings are independent and add their own color to the stories. My favorite story is Gaurapuranama, which is about Toddy Tappers (Wine tappers). I strongly believe that art must evolve with time.
