Description

In this live-streamed online experience, I will take you through one of the oldest areas of Prague - the parts of the magnificent city of thousand spires where Jews used to live between the 10th and 20th century.

As we walk around the Jewish Quarter, you will get to explore its awe-inspiring cultural landmarks, including the oldest continuously functioning synagogue in Northern Europe, the Jewish Town Hall, and the mystical old Jewish cemetery. We will visit the area where the Jewish people once lived and where splendid Parisian-style buildings with luxury brand stores are now concentrated. The most famous of all Prague legends is also centred in this area, and as we walk around I will tell you the story of the first "robot" - an artificial man known as Golem of Prague.
The Prague Jewish Quarter has for ages been a major pilgrimage destination for the Jewish diaspora and is one of the highlights of any visit to Prague. By joining this dedicated tour, you will learn a piece of the multidimensional tale of one of the unique cultures of the world. During our time together, I will help enrich your experience further and would be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the dramatic history of Jewish people, their traditions, and their place in society.

Meet your Host
Marek Kremer

I have been working in tourism since 2004 as a resident guide for Czech clients in various countries, and since 2008 as a licensed guide and an educator in Prague. Though I am a lawyer and philologist by degree, I would prefer guiding over any sedentary job.

As a guide, I can share my passion for exploring with other people and fulfil my life's motto: "I learn; therefore I am". I enjoy difficult questions, am ready to discuss complex topics, and am no stranger to disquieting answers. Not surprisingly, the story of Jewish people is one of my favourites.
