Description

Ready to explore an intriguing and vibrant city with a millennial history? From the Roman empire to the four centuries of influence of the Republic of Venice, through barbaric invasions to World War 2 bombings, and the golden century ruled by the Carraresi family after becoming a 'comune', Padua has seen it all!

Join me for this fantastic, interactive Online Experience and explore Padua through the eyes of a local. I will show you amazing sites and help you learn the cultural aspects that make my hometown unique. Only someone born here can offer you an authentic perspective into the 'goliardia' student movement, the invention of the modern aperitif spritz, and why Padua is called the "City of the Three Without".

Starting at the Scrovegni Chapel, dating back to the 14th century, we will look for the remains of the old city wall and the Roman museum. Passing another 14th-century church, we will reach the city centre and cross one of the 11 ancient city gates. We then move to Herb Square to see a huge palace with a sundial inside.

Through the eyes of a local, you will discover the historic city centre, one of the largest in Europe; the main squares with their vibrant life and markets; and the historical Cafè Pedrocchi and its role during the Italian Risorgimento. We will also admire one of the oldest universities in Europe, the seat of the mysterious anatomical theatre where Galileo Galilei taught for 18 years, the Palazzo della Ragione and its role during medieval times, and the Carrarese palace, where we will finish our journey of Padua admiring the incredible Astronomical clock and learning about the legend behind it. The clock tower is located in the Ghetto area, which was the Jewish residential area in olden times and now houses several bars and cafes.
