Description
This tour will take you on the off-beaten track where you will see some of the hidden attractions. First, you will visit the former British Police Station from the 1920s. The prison cells are now a shelter for the low-income residents of the city. The compound consists of 5 storey buildings surrounding a courtyard and the real-life version of "Pig Cage Village" in Stephen Chow's film "Kung Fu Hustle."
Next, you will visit the biggest slaughterhouse from the 1930s. After seeing it, you won't be able to believe that building with Gotham-deco architecture made of concrete, glass and steel once used to be a slaughterhouse.
Later, you will head to the former building of Astor House Hotel, which was the first western hotel in China. The building has now been converted into a housing compound with the locals living in the old hotel rooms.
Finally, you will see the General Post Office, which was constructed in 1924 with a mix of Europen Architecture. See the main trading hall, which came to be known as the "First Hall of the Far East."
