Description
Join this online experience for the unheard stories of the people who contributed to the formation of Sydney and the colony of New South Wales, along with interesting anecdotes such as how alcohol was used in the past as an exchange currency. You will also hear interesting facts about Sydney's history as well as Australian culture and lifestyle.
The tour will start with a brief introduction in front of the Old Sydney Customs House. We will then walk towards the heart of the neighbourhood "The Rocks". During this 5-minute walk to the oldest section of "The Rocks", you will hear stories related to the early colonial period of Australia, and why "The Rocks" is the oldest part of Sydney and how it was built.
We will spend a good 30 minutes walking through the little laneways that are characteristic of "The Rocks" area (Suez Canal, Greenway Lane, Nurses walk, Kendall Lane, Jack Mundey Square, Argyle Street), and visiting places of historical interest such as 'Foundation Park' and 'Cadmans Cottage', the oldest standing building in Sydney and Australia. We will make our way through the streets of "The Rocks", which not until many years ago was one of the most infamous neighbourhoods of the city.
The tour will conclude with a stroll along the Sydney Harbour. From there, you will have a clear view of the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera house, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage in 2007.
