Description

Go for a full-day tour to the Appian Way (called the queen fo the roads): one of the most important roads in the Roman time connecting Rome with Brindisi (and its natural and safe port used as a gateway to the Orient).

Thanks to a walking tour of the city centre of Brindisi. We will see a traditional small daily food market, the terminal columns of the Appian Way, the heritage of the traders, pilgrims, and crusades passing from this old city.

From there, we can visit some other cities along the Appian Way (Mesagne, Oria) to learn about the archaeological findings and relish some traditional food. During the day there will be an EVOO tasting (to learn how to recognize a good EVOO and to its food pairing) and wine tasting session at a Masseria (a typical old farmhouse). We will taste some organic wines made with indigenous grapes.

Alessandro Perrone

I am a licensed tour guide as well as a wine and olive oil sommelier. I live in the sunny and windy Salento: the southern and peninsular part of the region. It is the Eastern Italian region, right in the middle of the Mediterranean sea with culture and traditions that are a result of the different influences, trades, and dominations. I’m a traveler (for leisure and work) and I like to know foreign countries and their culture, customs, food, etc. I have been working in tourism for about 15 years in different sectors: tourist guide, tour leader and travel planner either for free individual travelers either for leisure groups through tour operators either for incentive and congress travelers coming from the USA, Canada, Australia, and Europe and traveling or cruising in Italy and interested in art and history, archaeology, culture and traditions, wine and gastronomy, nature, photography, opera, religion, and spirituality). I love my region (Puglia) and I like to share our wonderful attractions and culture with other people. Travelers who come for the first time in Apulia usually are fascinated by the Apulian daylight and the colors of the seaside and the countryside. If you like a friendly guide who will make his best, thanks to his experience and empathy, to understand and satisfy your needs, to suggest the right choices for your interests, to introduce in our culture and traditions, to help you in spending a great time, then join me.
