Description
Milan is the epicentre of Italian fashion, and our sense of beauty and perfection goes all the way back to ancient times. This is one of the reasons why the town is home to so many masterpieces of art, the most famous one being the Last Supper by Leonardo Da Vinci.
In this presentation, we will discover all the secrets of this famous masterpiece, which was painted between 1495 and 1498 on the wall of the dining room of Santa Maria delle Grazie Monastery. The patron was the Duke of Milan Ludovico Il Moro Sforza who invited Da Vinci to work in the town between 1483 and 1499. We will discuss the real painting technique used, the meaning of the colours used by Leonardo and all the symbols which are hidden in the painting. Furthermore, we will dig into some of the details that cannot be discovered even on the spot.
Da Vinci spent 16 years in Milan. How big was Milan at that time? Where was Da Vinci's workshop located? Where were Santa Maria delle Grazie and the Sforza Castle located? Which other masterpieces have been made by Da Vinci in Milan? All these questions will be answered in this session. So join me, and together we will discover the works of this genius!
