Description

Marvel at the wondrous city of Daruvar, nestled between the Papuk mountain and the Toplica river, on this live-streamed Online Experience.

We will begin our tour with a visit to the town center and city park to admire the numerous species of imported exotic plants, some of which are more than 200 years old. Here, we will also get to see the famous Kupacica or "woman bather" sculpture. Moving onwards, we will witness several thermal springs with proven healing properties: the Central mud bath, the Swiss villa, Ivan’s spring, and Antun’s spring, which is the oldest bath building in continental Croatia. Next, we will make our way to the Crane bird statue, symbolising Daruvar and walk through the oldest tree alley in continental Croatia.
Additionally, I will take you to Brewery Daruvar, which produces traditional Starocesko beer. Then, we will make our way to Jankovic castle, built by the Jankovic family, known to be the founders of modern Daruvar. In front of the castle stands the oldest Ginkgo Biloba tree in the whole of southeastern Europe, which we will stop by and learn more about. I will also take you to explore the Catholic and the Orthodox Churches, which date back to the mid-18th century. Walking along, we will talk about the Romans and make our way to our final stop, where we will see the most beautiful artefact left behind by Roman Daruvar: the Imperial cage cup, a model of the original wine cage cup which dates back to the 3rd century.

I look forward to hosting you on this tour.

Meet your Host
Vladimir Ivic

I was born in Daruvar and work as a geography and history teacher in a local high school. In 2018, I completed a tour guide course and became a licensed tour guide for the city of Daruvar and Bjelovar-Bilogora County. As a local resident, I am acquainted with this more than 2-millennia-old touristic pearl of inland Croatia, its inhabitants, and their way of life. I am familiar with the anecdotes, curiosities, and secrets that this place holds, and would love to share them with you on my online experiences.
