Description

We will begin our online campus tour at McGraw Tower on Cornell University’s campus – an iconic landmark adjacent to an expansive view of the city below. I will share campus lore as we walk through a portion of Cornell’s campus towards neighbouring Collegetown. Bordering campus and Collegetown is the stunning Cascadilla Gorge. We will enjoy an aerial view from the bridge above, and when weather permits we will venture a few steps into the trail which runs alongside the gorge and ends in downtown Ithaca.

Once in Collegetown I will introduce you to some of the popular eateries and showcase the hangout spots, amenities, and public art of this student-centric neighbourhood. Heading away from Collegetown we will make our way to another gorge for a view of Six Mile Creek and some facts about the natural history of Ithaca. Finally, a quick jaunt downtown to end at the top of the Ithaca Commons: a pedestrian mall and the heart of our vibrant downtown.

Meet your Host
Sarah

I grew up in Ithaca, NY! I feel so lucky to live in this academically-inclined town with gorgeous natural surroundings and so many creative people. I have 15 years of public speaking experience, and I have spent the last several years leading walking food tours of my hometown. I love sharing the unexpected with tour guests so they can appreciate all facets of this area. When I am not leading tours, I volunteer with local cat rescue, a community education non-profit, and a sports league.
