Columbia University

We will tour the main campus of Columbia University (between W. 114th Street and W. 120th Street, and between Broadway and Morningside Drive, in Morningside Heights in Manhattan, New York. I will recount the history of Columbia, from its beginnings as Kings College (Alexander Hamilton's school) in lower Manhattan to its present status as the crowning institution in the modern Acropolis of the New World in Morningside Heights (albeit not the first one). We will not be able to enter any building at this time, but we will see Alma Mater, the Low Library (the administration building), Butler Library, the School of International Studies and the Law School, as well as other significant buildings on that main and well-designed campus. We will also look down over Harlem, and see the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine (the largest gothic cathedral in the world), and maybe even glimpse the Hungarian Bake Shop, the spot for many students to study and sip coffee and eat pastries. I will discuss Columbia's status in the pantheon of American Universities, particularly in the Ivy League.

Description

Join me on this live-streamed, interactive online campus tour for a virtual visit to the main campus of Columbia University, located between W.

We will not be able to enter any building at this time, but we will see Alma Mater, the Low Library (the administration building), Butler Library, the School of International Studies and the Law School, as well as other significant buildings on that main and well-designed campus from outside. We will also look down over Harlem, and see the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine (the largest gothic cathedral in the world), and maybe even catch a glimpse of the Hungarian Bake Shop, the spot for many students to study and sip coffee and eat pastries. I will discuss Columbia's status in the pantheon of American Universities, particularly in the Ivy League, and answer any questions you may have regarding student life at this prestigious university of which I myself am a graduate.
