Description

On this live-streamed, interactive Online Experience, I will take you to the historical downtown of Mexico City. Together, we will discover why the area has been nominated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and understand the reasons for it being known as the cultural capital of South America.

In the course of our tour, I will take you to see some of the most iconic sights in town: we will make our way to the Templo Mayor and take in a grand view from the outside of an ancient Aztec city grounded in the 14th century. As you marvel at the unique aspects of this city, I will treat you to some fascinating details about it and tell you why it was built on water.

We will then visit the National Palace, located on a site that has served as the base of the ruling classes of Mexico since the Aztec times. Today, it functions as the seat of the Federal Government. It is in the stairwells of the National Palace that Diego Rivera's famous murals about the Mexican Revolution are located, and we will take some time to appreciate them.

I will also take you to the Metropolitan Cathedral, the third-largest Cathedral in the world which became famous as the jewel of the Spanish crown back in the 16th century. Walking on, we will finish the tour with a breathtaking view of the main square of Mexico City - the Zocalo - and bid each other adieu under the national flag.

In 2019, she decided to move back to Mexico City but had a different perspective on everything when she did so. She is familiar with its streets, museums, restaurants, transport and lots more: food, smells, colours, architecture, buildings, and people. Of course, her roots were even more robust, and she was more interested in understanding where she came to belong. As a Mexican, she understands the value of this fantastic place.
