Situated on the Garden Route, the picturesque town of Mossel Bay is a beautiful holiday resort with sun streaked yellow beaches lapped at by warm waters of the Indian Ocean. The explorer Bartholomew Dias first threw anchor in Mossel Bay in 1488 and thus was the first to start the now busy harbour of today. One would be remiss if one did not hire a professional Mossel Bay tourist guide as this historical village has a plethora of museums and places of interest. Overlooking the sea with panoramic views, the Bartholomew Dias Museum complex stretches over the sweeping Ethno- Botanical Gardens. Renowned for its great white sharks, why not go shark cage diving and see the beauty of these enormous creatures up close or snorkel amongst the reefs with the diverse range of fish and sea urchins. Take that hike down the St Blaize Trail for incredible views of the coastline and, whale and dolphin watching. And then of course, no visit is complete without a sojourn to a game reserve for an up and close encounter with one or all of the Big 5!
