Visit one of the most famous monasteries in Russia that has never been closed since its foundation in the 15th century-Assumption Cave Monastery.
Proceed to Izborsk, which used to be an important fortress and a center for crafts and international trade. While here, visit the 14th century fortress, walk to the lake and feed swans that live there, see Slavonic Springs (waterfalls with miracle working water), and visit the original settlement site.
Enjoy wonderful views of the village.

Entrance tickets to Izborsk fortress. Their cost is 100 rubles (that's less than 2 dollars) for adults; 50 rubles (about 1 dollar) for students and retired people, and 30 rubles (half a dollar) for children
Transportation
Know before you go
If you want to visit the underground caves of Pechory Assumption monastery, you will need to send a prior request. The guide will help you do it. Usually people leave a donation when visiting the caves. It is up to you to decide how much you wish to donate.
Options: Not far from Izborsk are several other places of interest to visit, such as The Seto People’s Homestead Museum, which tells about the culture and the way of life of the small in number Seto People; a honey apiary where you can learn about the life of bees and will be treated with tea and honey. You can also enjoy a Russian retro cars exhibition. It all involves extra expenses.
