One of the most known pilgrimage destinations in Europe, visited by 5 million people in 2022. A sanctuary is a special place where our lady appeared in 1917 to three little shepherds bringing a very important message. Here visitors have time to pray, light a candle and understand better this spiritual and peaceful shrine.

A District Capital very well located between the North and South of the country. The city grew between the Castle and the River Lis. The castle remains a monumental symbol of the city’s history.
Several kings and queens passed here. The monarch who spent the longest time in Leiria was King D. Dinis with his wife, Queen Elizabeth, one of the receivers of the Miracle of the Roses.
The main square is named for Francisco Rodrigues Lobo, a notable local sixteenth-century poet in the heart of Leiria. It is a fantastic place for socialising, eating and doing some shopping.

The Dominican Monastery of Saint Mary of Victory is an extraordinary Gothic building, ordered by King John I, in the 14th century, whose tomb is in the Royal Pantheon.
It is the symbol of Portugal’s national pride and a UNESCO heritage site.
It was built to celebrate the 1385 battle when Portugal overcame the Castilians in the Battle of Aljubarrota.

Famous since the 12th century due to the miracle of the Virgin Mary. This is an ancient fishing village where we can buy dry fish on the beach and see the "seven skirts" ladies. The long sandy beach and the amazing cliff 110 meters high give an extraordinary view over the Atlantic Ocean. Today is famous all over the world because of its giant waves. In 2013 the American surfer McNamara got the world record when surfing a wave of about 30 metres in height.
