Summit the Haramosh Peak by climbing the beautiful and spectacular mountain trails from the Baltistan side. Start the expedition in the Arandu region, pass through the Laila Peak and Spantik Base Camp and trek across the Chogolungma and Haramosh glacier. Drive on the famous Karakoram Highway road to complete the Haramosh Peak Expedition.

  • Day 1- Arrival in Islamabad expand_more
    • Upon arrival in Islamabad, meet your tour representative and transfer to the hotel.
    • Do an afternoon city tour, and also visit Raja Bazar, Rawalpindi. 
    • Join for trek briefing with the tour leader in the evening.

  • Day 2- Islamabad - Skardu expand_more
    • You will be transferred to Islamabad airport for the flight. This flight is subject to weather.
    • Alternately, we may take a two-day drive to Skardu through the Karakoram Highway.

    Stay overnight at Chilas on the bank of Indus.

  • Day 3- Skardu expand_more
    • Free day at Skardu for those flying in.
    • Skardu is the capital of Baltistan and stands at an altitude of 2278 meters. It serves as the starting point for some of the most scenic and adventurous trekking in the world.
    • Morning visit to the Bazaar and in the afternoon, we will go to Satpara Lake.

    Overnight stay at the motel.

  • Day 4- Skardu - Arandu Vallage expand_more
    • Transfer in soft-top 4X4 jeeps to Arandu (3165m).

    Overnight at camp.

  • Day 5- Arandu - Bakken expand_more
    • Trek along Basha River for 6-7 hours to the snout of Chogolungma Glacier. It takes one hour to cross the northern lateral moraine. 
    • Across the glacier, it takes 4-5 hours to reach the green meadows of Bakken. 

    Overnight camp.

  • Day 6- Bakken - Harnal expand_more
    • Walk with a view of the perfect pyramid of Spantik Peak (7027M) for 5-7 hours, which guards the head of the valley, to Manchikera, another summer settlement. 

    • Reach Harnal.

  • Day 7- Harnal - Bolocho expand_more
    • Pass through the summer settlement of Gharincho and a small lake.

    • Continue with 4-5 hours of walk with magnificent views of Spantik and Laila peaks.

  • Day 8- Bolocho - Laila Base Camp expand_more
    • Cross the Chogolungma Glacier, walk for about 20 minutes on the nasty snout of the glacier until reaching the smooth, white central part. 

    • Turn southwest to Haramosh Glacier and reach Laila Base Camp.

  • Day 9- Acclimatization Day expand_more
    • Have rest at the Laila Base Camp, as it is a free day for acclimatization.

  • Day 10- Spantik Base Camp expand_more
    • Wake up and get ready for a full day excursion to the base camp of Spantik. A strenuous 6-7 hour round trip trek over rock and ice.

  • Day 11- Laila Base Camp expand_more
    • Start with a 5-6 hours trek to climb a peak of about 4800m for magnificent panoramic mountain views.

  • Day 12- Haramosh Base Camp expand_more
    • Continue with a 4-5 hours walk up the Haramosh Glacier, with a view of the Haramosh Pass ahead. The last hour is across big rock and crevasses, requiring climbing by rope.

  • Day 13- Haramosh Pass expand_more
    • Leave camp at about 4 am to climb Haramosh Pass. 

    • Walk on the Haramosh Glacier, crossing many crevasses. 

    • After about two hours, with the danger of avalanches coming down from the left, move across the glacier towards the north side and continue up. 

    • The final ascent involves a steep walk along with the snow and ice. (At some point, climbers will need to use 20 meters fixed rope as well as crampons and ice axes)

    • At the top of the pass, find good views of Haramosh and Laila.

    • After a short climb up to the right (north ), arrive at Rakaposhi. 

    • Below, see Kutwal Lake and trees.

  • Day 14- Kutwal Lake expand_more
    • Descent on the Kutwal Lakeside. You will need a rope to get down the first 40 meters as the trail is steep.

    • After four hours, reach grass and tree-covered area.

    • From there, go for an easy walk along the mini glacier, down to the shepherds' huts at Kutwal Lake Camp.

  • Day 15- Kutwal lake - Iskary expand_more
    • Walk down from the lake through green pasture for one hour. 

    • Descend for half an hour across the glacier and then reach Iskary summer village.

  • Day 16- Iskary - Dassu expand_more
    • Go down the right side of the mini glacier and cross the Baskai stream to the shepherd's summer settlement of Gure. 

    • Traverse along the water channel down through trees and fields to Dassu and camp for overnight stay.

  • Day 17- Dassu - Gilgit expand_more
    • Enjoy the last breakfast at the camp. 

    • Board soft-top 4x4 jeeps for Gilgit. 

    • Transfer to the hotel and enjoy the shower. 

    Meals and overnight stay at the hotel.

  • Day 18- Gilgit - Naltar Valley expand_more
    • Go for a picnic in Naltar Valley, a 42km drive from Gilgit. 

    • Enjoy a full-day picnic in lush green Naltar valley, heavily wooded with pine, spruce, birch, and juniper. Naltar village, at 2880 meters, has an Air-force Ski Training base.

  • Day 19- Naltar Valley - Besham expand_more
    • Drive on Karakoram Highway along the Indus river to reach Besham / Narran. 

    Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

  • Day 20- Besham - Islamabad expand_more
    • Drive to Rawalpindi, en-route visiting Taxila, the former capital of Gandhara civilization. 

    • See the archaeological remains of a monastery (Julian), a city (Sirkup), and the museum. 

    • Continue drive to Rawalpindi.

    • Transfer to hotel, farewell dinner at a typical Punjabi restaurant.

  • Day 21- Departure expand_more
    • Transfer to the airport for a departure flight to your home destination.
