Hike to Huascarán, the highest peak of the Cordillera Blanca mountain range and Peru. There is a requirement for a wide climbing experience along with an excellent physique for this tour. Treat yourself to a stunning view of deep valleys and glacier lakes from the summit!

  • Day 1- Huaraz (3100 m) – Mancos village (2528 m) – Musho village at (3005m) – Huascarán base camp at (4200m). (Driving time: 2 hours/walk time: 4 hours (walk up) expand_more
    • Depart from Huaraz at 7:00 am. 

    • Head towards the north side of Callejon de Huaylas until Mancos at 2500 m.

    • Drive on the dirt road until the Musho village. There, meet with the donkey driver and donkeys, who will carry/load the climbing gear until the base camp at 4200 m.

    Overnight camp at Huascarán base camp. 

  • Day 2- Huascarán base camp (4200 m) – Moraine camp (4850 m). (Climbing time: 3 hours (walk up) expand_more
    • After breakfast at 8:00 am, prepare the climbing gear to start walking up on a rocky section toward Moraine at 4850 m. 

    • Have lunch. 

    • Enjoy an impressive sunset.

  • Day 3- Moraine camp (4850 m) – high camp (5350 m). (Climbing time: 5 hours (ascent) expand_more
    • Move on a rocky path until the glacier edge. 

    • Traverse along the path to reach the high camp at 5350 m.

  • Day 4- High camp (5350 m) – Second high camp (6010 m). (Climbing time: 4 hours (ascent) expand_more
    • Start climbing up toward Col.

    • On the way up, pass a bit dangerous avalanche site. Trek to reach the Col in the middle of a couple of peaks.

    • Enjoy one of the most impressive sunsets in the whole of Cordillera Blanca.

  • Day 5- Second high camp (6010 m) – Huascarán south summit peak (6768 m) – Second high camp (6010 m) – high camp at (5350m) – Moraine camp (4850 m). (Climbing time: 16 hours (ascent & descent) expand_more
    • Have breakfast very early at 12:00 am

    • Hike up on switchbacks with some steep and slope sections.

    • After 7 hours of hiking, reach the north summit at 6768 m. From the summit, have a breathtaking view of the Cordillera Blanca. 

    • Head back on the same route upon rappels at difficult parts to reach the camp.

    • Descend until Moraine campsite. Spend the last night camp at moraine camp.

  • Moraine camp (4850 m) – Musho (3050 m) – Huaraz. (Climbing time: 5 hours (descent) expand_more
    • After breakfast at 8:00 am, pick up the climbing gears to go back to the base camp. There, the donkey driver will be waiting to load the climbing gear until Musho village.

    • Take private transport which is waiting there and head back to Huaraz.

Know before you go
  • Huascarán is the highest peak in the tropical site and into the Cordillera Blanca. It is visible from Huaraz and all the side of Callejon de Huaylas. The approach route is by Musho village, and nowadays, the normal route to climb is on the west face. From the camp over 6000 m, the route goes on steep and slope sections until we reach the summit, which requires wide climbing experience, good shape, and climbing technique. From the summit, it offers gorgeous views about deep valleys, a major part of the Cordillera Blanca and glacier lakes.

  • Maximum altitude: 6768 m. (Huascarán south summit).

  • Difficulty:  Difficult.

  • Duration: 6 days / 5 nights.

  • Preferred time: May – September.

  • Average temperature: Between 13° C – 23° C during the day/ at night -05°C to – 02°C on the top – 10°C.


Important Advice:

  • Do an early booking to get special discounts. 

  • For booking validation, deposit 40% of the total price, and pay the rest 60% upon arrival in Peru or Huaraz.
