  • Day 1: Arrivein Cusco expand_more
    • Welcome by your tour leader and transfer from Cusco airport to your hotel.

    • After a light lunch, transfer to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. It is the heart of the ancient Incan empire.

    • In the afternoon, visit the impressive Inca site of Ollantaytambo. It used to be the royal estate of Emperor Pachacuti.

  • Day 2: Machu Picchu expand_more
    • After breakfast, take the tourist train to Machupicchu to visit its spectacular citadel.
    • In the late afternoon, return to the Sacred Valley by train.

  • Day 3: Sacred Valley expand_more
    • Full day excursion to the Sacred Valley. Visit a successful local pottery workshop.
    • Explore the spectacular Inca ruins of Pisac. A two-hour hike will allow us to appreciate this breathtaking site fully. 
    • Enjoy enough time to explore the Indian market, where you find crafts from all over Peru on display. Return to Cusco in the afternoon.

  • Day 4: Visit Korikancha expand_more
    • Visit Qorikancha, the main temple of the Incas, after breakfast.
    • Explore the cathedral, full of sacred icons like the famous painting of the ‘The Last Supper.'
    • Finally, visit the artists' quarter of San Blas and the main market of San Pedro.
    • In the afternoon, stroll around the streets of the charming centre of Cusco, famous for its blend of Inca and colonial architecture.

  • Day 5: Sacsayhuaaman, Q’enqo. Tambomachay and Puka Pukara expand_more
    • Set out on a morning excursion to the local Inca ruins of Sacsayhuaman, Q’enqo, Tambomachay, and Puka Pukara.
    • The afternoon will be free. You may relax, visit museums or go shopping.
    • In the evening, there will be dinner with live music for you to enjoy.

  • Day 6: Andean Spirit Lodge expand_more
    • Today, leave for the Andean Spirit Lodge, a rural Lodge that will be our base for the next four nights. On the way, visit the mysterious Inca sites of Killarumiyoq and Tarawasi.
    • After lunch, explore the trails and gardens of the lodge and relax in a hammock. There will be an optional yoga class before dinner. You may enjoy a restful evening by an open log fire.

  • Day 7: Hike to Lake Humantay expand_more
    • Visit the highland lagoon of Lake Humantay, the snowy peak that can be viewed from the lodge. A two-hour drive will take you to Soryapampa, from where you may hike up to the beautiful Humantay lagoon (horses are also available for hire). 

    • Enjoy a delicious home-cooked lunch at Soryapampa before returning to the lodge in the afternoon.

  • Day 8: The condor viewpoint of Chonta expand_more
    • After a hearty breakfast, drive uphill for about an hour to the highland hamlet of Chonta. 

    • Hike for a couple of hours to reach the Condor viewpoint, from where you may appreciate fabulous views of this mighty Andean bird soaring over the Apurimac canyon. A delicious home-cooked boxed lunch will be provided.

    • Start the return journey in the afternoon and reach the lodge in time for dinner.

  • Day 9: Relax at the Andean Spirit Lodge expand_more
    • Enjoy a free day to relax. You may book optional yoga and meditation classes if you wish.

Know before you go
  • We can spend several days at the beautiful rural Andean Spirit Lodge, where you may unwind at the end of your visit to Machupicchu and other sites.  Here, you can participate in nature hikes, yoga, and meditation if you wish.

  • One of my specialities is to arrange customized tours, special interest tours and catering for special diets and food allergies. Children are welcome.

  • Day 2 excursion to Machupicchu will be guided by a minimum of four participants. If there are less than four participants in the tour, the guide may charge you extra.
