Embark on this action-packed trip to the magnificent Amazon rainforest and hike through the jungles to spot medicinal plants. Try your hand at piranha fishing, canoe amongst the pink dolphins, spot caimans by night and trek to a local lake to see giant lily pads. Interact with local communities and enjoy witnessing magical sunsets in the Amazon.

  • Day 1- Iquitos - Amazon Dreams Eco Lodge expand_more
    •  Reach Iquitos and then travel 97 km (approximately 2 hours) near the Amazon River to Amazon Dreams Eco Lodge, located on the banks of the Rio Tushpa, a small Amazon tributary.

    • Arrive at the lodge and have a brief orientation session with your guide.  

    • Have lunch followed by an afternoon excursion to the local flora and fauna and learn about the medicinal plants of the rainforest.

    • After dinner, enjoy a nighttime excursion to spot insects, amphibians, and nocturnal animals.

  • Day 2- Amazon Rainforest expand_more
    • Witness an Amazon sunrise.

    • Enjoy Bird-watching along the river early in the morning, followed by breakfast in the lodge.

    • Then, cruise along the Amazon river by a peke-peke boat to spot pink and grey river dolphins.

    • After lunch, go for a jungle hike to look for sloths, iguanas, monkeys, and many other creatures.

    • After dinner in the lodge, go for Caiman (alligators) spotting along the river.

  • Day 3- Local Amazon Village expand_more
    • After breakfast, visit a local Amazon village community to learn about the culture and lifestyle of the people living in the rain forest. Observe how they live and work, which includes fishing, growing papaya, banana, manioc, and other local products of the region.

    • Return to the lodge for lunch.

    • Afterward, go for a hike to a nearby local lake to see the giant lily pads “Victoria Regia” and spot animals and birds in this area.

    • Upon returning to the lodge, you can watch the beautiful Amazon sunset.

    • Dinner in the lodge.

  • Day 4- Oxbow Lake - Piranha Fishing expand_more
    • Visit the remote jungle and swim in the Oxbow lake and enjoy the biodiversity of the area.

    • Have a picnic lunch and spend the morning at the lake, relax and enjoy the serenity of the location.

    • Piranha fishing will be the highlight of the day.

  • Day 5- Return to Iquitos expand_more
    • Go for a jungle safari post breakfast. 

    • Following lunch, you will be taken to Iquitos. Once in Iquitos, you will be transported to your hotel or the airport.

What to bring
  • Flashlight/headlamp (for night hikes)
  • A pair of long pants and lightweight long-sleeved shirts are best for jungle hikes (quick-drying materials work best)

  • Shorts/T-shirts

  • Sturdy hiking shoes (Rubber boots are provided but may not be available in some larger sizes)

  • Sandals

  • Swimsuit/beach towel

  • Insect repellent

  • Sunscreen

  • Rain gear (Pancho recommended)

  • Binoculars (a necessity for birding)

  • Camera and plenty of batteries (we do have a small generator for charging batteries)

  • Peruvian Nuevo Soles (small bills and change, for purchasing souvenirs from local villages and tips)

  • Travel Insurance: Guests should consider purchasing travel insurance for their trip in case of illness, injury, natural disasters, inclement weather, or flight delays that may cause connecting flights to be missed
